2022 Inflation Reduction act

 

The Inflation Reduction Act is the landmark bill that passed in 2022 that provides direction forward for energy efficiency in our country. IRA adds, extends and modifies many programs designed to provide incentives to citizens, including rebate, grant and loan programs.

 

There are three different residential retrofit programs to help incentivize residential homeowners to upgrade their home's energy efficiency.

 

 

 

1. Resident Efficiency Tax Credit (Sect.25C)

         

  • Exisiting Program that was modified

  • Extended to run from 1/1/2023 to 12/31/2032.

  • Credit of 30% of materials cost up to $1200/yr. 

 

 

2. HOMES Act of 2019

 

  • Available to individual homeowners

  • Available to landlords for both single & multi-family homes

  • Provides rebates based on energy savings.

  • Bigger rebates for lower income homeowners

  • Can be combined with Sect. 25C tax credits

 

 

3. DOE Electrification Rebate Program

 

  • Offers rebates for insulation, air sealing & ventilation up  to $1600
  • States will administer the programs funds

Pennsylvania Power & Light (PP&L) offers their customers numerous rebates that you could qualify for as a customer.
